Content

DAY 1: VISIONING AND CONCEPTUALISING PERSON CENTRED CULTURES
Aim: For participants and facilitators to collaboratively engage in creating a person-centred culture for learning and to explore concepts and ideas about person-centredness and what this means in the workplace
Intended Learning Outcomes:
• To expand your comprehension of the concepts underpinning person-centred care and person-centred cultures
• To examine some of the contemporary ideas of person-centredness in practice
• To experience, along with others, a collaborative method for clarifying values and beliefs and developing shared vision
• To extend your understanding on how to establish active learning within your organisation
• To reflect on the value of the principles of collaboration, inclusion and participation (CIP) within practice development to promote person-centredness for staff residents and families.

DAY 2: EVALUATING EFFECTIVENESS
Aim: To guide participants through a systematic and learning oriented approach to evaluation person-centred practice in the workplace
Intended Learning Outcomes:
• To illustrate how evaluation increases the potential for collaboration, inclusion and participation (CIP)
• To introduce the CIP principles and specific framework as a guide for effective evaluation
• To enhance appreciation of evaluation as a learning opportunity
• To demonstrate the value of baseline and repeat measurements in evaluation

DAY 3: CREATING CULTURES OF EFFECTIVENESS TO SUPPORT THE JOURNEY
Aim: To create insight and understanding of the need for effective work-based cultures to support the person-centred care practice journey
Intended Learning Outcomes:
• Develop an understanding of current workplace culture and desired culture
• Develop skills, insight and understanding to help others explore their work-based cultures
• Recognise the key importance of understanding culture as part of person-centred practice

DAY 4: DEVELOPING FACILITATION AND REFLECTION SKILLS FOR THE JOURNEY
Aim: To develop further understanding and insight into the contribution of effective facilitation and reflection in furthering inquiry questions and successful person-centred cultures
Intended Learning Outcomes:
• Reflect on own learning and the transfer of learning into one’s own workplace and context in an environment of high support and challenge
• Develop insight and awareness of the complexity of being an effective facilitator of person-centred practice with others
• Develop skills in the facilitation of others’ effectiveness and enable other to promote person-centred practice

DAY 5: LEARNING POINTS AND ACTION PLANNING
Aim: To enable a collaborative sharing of individual and group learning considering the implications for self, for the organisation and for the residents/families and to support the implementation of HIQA regulations
Intended Learning Outcomes:
• Collaboratively prepare and present individual and shared learning using different methods
• Experience the use and impact of creative methods and processes for learning analysis and presenting findings, new understandings and action plans to be used in the home to promote effective person centred
• To identify how to develop action plans that support implementation of HIQA Regulations
• Learn with and from others
• Position person centred practice as integral to high quality care that is safe, person-centred and effective.
