Emergency First Aid / Basic Course

Aim / Objectives of the Emergency First Aid Course
To provide participants with the knowledge and skills to be able to assess a casualty and deal with emergencies before the arrival of the Emergency Services.

Who should attend? Persons who may be required to manage emergencies before the arrival of the Emergency Services or Doctor.

What is covered in the course?
Casualty Assessment, Vital Signs.
The unresponsive casualty – Recovery Position
Management of Chest Pain / Heart Attack
Cardiac Arrest and CPR.
Management of Choking – Conscious to Unconscious.
Respiratory Emergencies – Asthma
Management of bleeding for casualty on aspirin / warfarin – Shock
Recognition and Management of Stroke.
Low Blood Sugar – Diabetes.
Management of a seizure.

Methodology: This course is a highly participative and interactive course where theory is followed by demonstration of skills and practical application by participants.

Certification: Each participant is issued with an Emergency First Aid Certificate.

Course Duration: 4.5 hours. Times TBA

All course notes are provided and each participant is given a personal face shield for CPR training to maintain hygiene standards when working on the manikins.
